Congenital and acquired deformities of the nose can be improved by exclusive techniques. It is a surgery that harmonizes and rejuvenates the face improving the set of unique characteristics of patients; the important thing is to find a harmonious objective with the qualities of your face. We differentiate the female noses from the male ones: the first ones tend to be thin, slightly curved, while in the male nose we want to reflect a masculine aspect and avoid the feminization of the face, which is very important.
What is a rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is surgery that changes the shape of the nose. This surgery can increase, decrease or change its structure, tip or back, narrow or widen the nostrils.
When to perform a Rhinoplasty?
To perform a rhinoplasty it´s necessary that the bone structure of the nose has reached a full development so, if it is not a case in which the patient’s breathing is significantly affected, we advocate waiting until 18 years of age to carry it out.
Types of Rhinoplasty
There are two main methods:
Open rhinoplasty: It is one in which a small external incision is made, located in the nasal columella, or septum, which separates the nostrils and is located above the upper lip. Normally this surgery leaves a small scar, barely perceptible once the post-operative process is finished. This method is the best to work the nasal tip, allowing a better symmetry and the possibility of correcting the defects better.
Closed rhinoplasty: It is the one in which you work without external incisions, only internal ones. It is indicated to correct the hump or easel, but not the nasal tip.
